A Commitment to Emergency Care in West Virginia
West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources
State Trauma and Emergency Care System
As of October 31, 2009, all patient care records must be submitted electronically. If your agency is not submitting electronic patient care records through PreMIS or a third-party vendor, please contact the Office of Emergency Medical Services immediately. Prior to submission of electronic patient care records, each West Virginia-licensed agency must be certified to West Virginia EPCR submissions standards.
This is a question that we are asked often. Because there are many factors that can affect electronic patient care record data, software certification alone is not enough to ensure quality run form data.
A certified software package may produce well-formed bad data if not configured correctly. Each agency must undergo testing to ensure that their vehicles, personnel, procedures, medications, and other important items are configured correctly prior to submitting data. Those agencies that have completed this step through cooperation with EMSPIC will be listed here.
