The West Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services is sponsoring a Medical Directors workshop to include a Performance Improvement Plan and Process Course. This course will be available in all regions and dates of all sessions will be provided in this letter. The first course is April 14 at 0900 in Martinsburg, WV.

Carbon Monoxide and Winter Safety

With the winter weather continuing across our state, carbon monoxide (CO) incidents will be on the rise. This is especially the case with residential properties. The West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) offer these questions and answers to help warn West Virginians of the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning.

National EMS Instructor Course Level 1 Offered

There will be a National Association of EMS Educators EMS Instructor Course – Level 1, December 13-15, 2013. This Course will be held at Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College in Williamson, WV. The cost of the course will be $295.00 for NAEMSE members and $385.00 for non-members. FDA MedWatch - Specialty Medicine Compounding Pharmacy Certain Unexpired Compounded Sterile Products: Recall - Particulate Matter Found in Vials

Specialty Medicine Compounding Pharmacy is voluntarily recalling all lots of certain unexpired human and veterinary sterile products to the consumer level due to particulate matter found in vials of a compounded dextrose injection product dispensed to a local hospital. Further testing and analysis of the medication is being conducted. If there is microbial contamination in products intended to be sterile, patients are at risk for serious, potentially life-threatening infections.
