CCT Meeting

Technical Rescue Core Course at RESA 3

RESA 3 Public Service Training will be hosting a Core Technical Rescue course beginning Tuesday, July 8th at 6:00 PM at their Dunbar location. The purpose of this course is to provide the student with basic knowledge and skills necessary for further advancement into specific areas of technical rescue - that is the process of applying special knowledge, skills, and equipment to resolve difficult rescue situations. This course will meet the prerequisites of specific technical rescue classes.

Fireworks Safety

Summer celebrations are coming up and West Virginians will be busy with cookouts, family reunions and community parades. Unfortunately, celebrations can quickly turn to tragedy for families, especially when children and teenagers are killed or permanently injured by so-called “safe and sane” fireworks. “ANY fireworks-type materials are dangerous,” states Acting State Fire Marshal Anthony Carrico. “Even sparklers can burn hot enough to melt gold and cause third degree burns. Basically, there is no such thing as safe fireworks.”

With the winter weather continuing across our state, carbon monoxide (CO) incidents will be on the rise. This is especially the case with residential properties. The West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) offer these questions and answers to help warn West Virginians of the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning.
